A Kiswahili saying goes says, “Mcheza kwao hutunzwa”. This is more true than ever for the Kenya 7s rugby team, Shujaa, which will be touching down at the JKIA to a grand reception this afternoon (April 19th, 2016) at 2.30 pm.

The Shujaa sponsor, Kenya airways, has laid down an impeccable red carpet befitting the world champions. To receive the team will be Hassan Wario, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Culture and the Arts and his Principal Secretary, Richard Ekai. Joining them also will be Mbuvi Ngunze, CEO of Kenya Airways, and Richard Omwela, Chairman of the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU).

Traditional dancers will be on standby to treat the Shujaas to a rare fete of song and dance.

From the airport, the team will make their way to Ole Sereni Hotel for a luncheon by the hotel’s poolside aboard top of the range motor vehicles. The luncheon is scheduled for 3:30 pm.

The Kenya 7s team have put Kenya on the spotlight after winning the Singapore leg of HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. The team stunned Fiji 30-7 to win their first ever World Sevens Series title on Sunday 17th, 2016.
