Following the void left after she was stripped half way through her term, Evelyn Njeri, who was the first runner-up and reigning Miss World Kenya 2016 – Kiambu County, has been crowned Miss World Kenya 2016. Cutting Boards

Cutting boards harbor potentially dangerous coliform bacteria. Some also contain yeast and mold. This is because they are used in preparation of various raw food items without thorough cleaning.

To eliminate these, place the boards in the dish washer immediately after every use or hand wash them using warm soapy water.

Knobs, Switches and Handles

Stove knobs, light switches fridge and cabinet handles are all full of germs. This could be due to the fact that they are handled by different people and are rarely given attention during regular cleaning exercises which leads to an accumulation of microorganisms.

Studies have shown that dish sponges and towels harbor the most microorganisms in the kitchen thus taking the dirtiest items in the kitchen title. This can be attributed to the fact that they are used for multiple tasks and the fact that they hold moisture for long.

To kill the germs, microwave wet sponges for two minutes each day. Once every two weeks, replace it. For people using rags, tossing it in a hot washing cycle every two days will solve the problem.

Studies have shown that wearing earphones for more than an hour is enough to leave them covered up with bacteria from your ears. Regularly disinfect them to keep them free from germs.

Electronics

Computer keyboards, ipods, remote controls and phones are usually shared among people and tend to be used every so often. While this is the case, they tend to cleaned less often.

South Africa’s Anglican church did this amid public outrage following her marriage to her long time partner. Since the church does not recognize gay marriage, Mpho has handed back her license. While confirming this, senior local priest Bruce Jenneker said the Saldanha diocese had received Ms Tutu-van Furth’s licence with “sadness”.

As such, she is no longer allowed to preside over baptisms, weddings, funerals and the holy communion.

This did not come as a surprise to her since the canon law of the South African Church states that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

The revocation of her license comes after the couple held a wedding party outside Cape Town earlier this month. In attendance was her father, Desmond Tutu, and his wife.

The couple, who got married in December 2015, are both divorced and have children.

Moeti added that strict travel restrictions as a way of curbing further spread of Zika virus in Africa were not necessary at the moment. Instead, focus should be on controlling mosquito populations and protecting people from their bites.

The findings are expected to fuel increased surveillance as well as public education on how to protect themselves from mosquito bites and sexual transmission.

The Zika virus origin is traced back to Africa where it was first identified in monkeys found in Zika forest, Uganda in 1947.

Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett has approved the opening of the abattoir in Baringo County, declaring it an export slaughterhouse.

With a capacity of 100 donkeys per day, the facility is ran by two Chinese nationals, Lu Jing and Lu Donglin, the proprietors of Goldox Kenya. It was constructed more than three years ago but the company is yet to be issued with an operating license.

According to Goldox director Lu Jing, the company will not only be buying donkeys from local farmers but also run its own donkey breeding programme on a 100-acre piece of land.

Donkey meat is reportedly in high demand in china, the main focus market for Goldox Kenya. With the approval made by the CS, the company is just one step away from assuming operations.
